Obama's 2nd Term

They say that he won't last
To serve a second term.
They said the same of FDR
But how'd he run for third.

For by his third he'd greased the palms
And lined the pockets of,
Mayors, bosses, congressmen,
Senators and govs.

The courts that use to keep on eye
On justice in the land,
Was packed with those who all agreed
FDR was the right man

A million here, a million there
Placed just at the right time,
Would buy the votes for a third term
Of the hungry and the blind.

  1. Someone much smarter than I am said, "What is popular isn't always right; and what is right isn't always popular."
I'm hoping that if I wait long enough, I'll see the shadows of man and horse appear on the hill - he's come to set things right. I think I'll be waiting a long time....maybe I should go find a horse.

  2. Hmmm, is this THE man who sat on a white horse, and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True?

I am reading a book where the author describes the difference between the kingdom of the world and the kingdom of heaven in a way that is clear to me and makes sense. The kingdom of this world (Babylon) operates on a "power over others" basis, while the kingdom of God is based on "power under others". This, the author says, is the basis for Jesus' comments to Pilate, and what He was referring to in Luke 22:25-27.

PS: I am glad you found a good use for my collection of thoughts and poems. I couldn't be happier than to hear that what I've written is helping to prop up the things in our home that are crooked.
